AI Policy

AI Policy

Church Logistics Consulting (CLC) is committed to using artificial intelligence responsibly and transparently, keeping human judgment at the center of our work. This policy explains, in plain terms, how AI shows up in the services we provide, and makes clear that how we use AI is part of our internal workflow, not by default part of a client’s deliverable. AI is simply part of how this business runs, the same way a computer or an email account is, so it isn’t something a client can ask us to turn off altogether. Instead, you can expect the limits and safeguards laid out below, including where and how AI touches sensitive information. It applies to Rick Theriot and to any contractor or vendor working under the CLC name.

How We Use AI

We use AI extensively to improve the scope, quality, and speed of our work. It functions as a team member in spaces that would traditionally require a web designer, editor, marketing specialist, data analyst, or other specialist, roles a small church could never justify hiring on its own.

In practice, this means AI may assist with things like:

  • Drafting and editing communications, reports, and website content
  • Organizing and analyzing data (attendance, giving trends, facility use)
  • Marketing and content support
  • Research and first drafts of plans, policies, and procedures

AI helps us move faster and cover more ground. It does not replace the judgment, relationships, and pastoral sensitivity that this work requires.

Human Oversight

A human at Church Logistics Consulting reviews all work before it is sent to a client. AI is a tool, not a decision-maker: it does not have final say on strategy, finances, personnel matters, or anything sent out under the CLC or client’s name.

Both humans and AI can make mistakes. Keeping a person in the review loop on every deliverable is how we catch errors and keep the work accountable to the standard we’ve set.

Data Privacy & Confidentiality

Public AI models are never used on records that are counseling-related or otherwise pastorally sensitive in nature.

When other sensitive or identifying information needs AI assistance (financial detail, personnel matters, member data), identifying information is removed before it touches any AI system.

Day-to-day email is also part of this AI-assisted workflow, tools may help read, sort, and draft replies. If a matter is sensitive and you’d rather it not touch AI at all, just ask for a private email address and we’ll handle it there directly.

Transparency with Clients

If you’d like to know how AI was used on a particular piece of work, just ask, we’ll answer plainly. Nothing here is meant to be hidden; it’s simply how a solo consultant delivers specialist-level work at a price a small church can afford.

Our Commitment

AI capability is moving fast, and how churches think about it is moving fast too. This policy will be revisited as our tools and our clients’ expectations evolve, but the core commitment stays fixed: AI serves the work, a human stands behind it, and nothing that requires pastoral judgment gets handed to a machine.
